Closing Exercises At Great Falls Elementary School

Indians Train To Boss Forest Fire Fighters
Veteran Indian and Metis fire fighters from three remote Manitoba settlements completed a five day training course at Berens River to qualify as fire fighting foremen. Twenty two graduates from Little Grand Rapids Bloodvein River and Berens River learned water bombing demonstrations and helicopter tactics with bilingual English and Saulteaux instruction. Fire control officer R R Ross led the course with interpreter Johnny Bvrvette, building on prior schools at Chemahawin Cedar Lake in 1963 and Wabowden last year.
