Vancouver dispatch reports Mrs Bernard Beeskau formerly of Whitemouth fractured two ribs in an auto crash. The Springfield Leader notes she receives the paper weekly and hopes for her recovery next week.
A Sunday banquet at St Mary’s Parish Hall Beausejour honored Fr P Jaworski the parish pastor. Frank Witko presented a purse to the guest of honor on behalf of parishioners with speakers Fr Czapja Fr Litowski Fr Prokop Fr Carmylo and others and Fr J Gurka served as master of ceremonies.
Clarence Pilchke arrives home from college in Regina for holidays and is congratulated on winning the best actor award for his role in the play Warming Pan. He has acted in Regina Moose Jaw and other locales.
Cecil Spirito of Pointe du Bois Power Plant has left for a similar role with Hydro in Winnipeg. His wife and family will join him soon as residents. The Ladies of Pointe du Bois honored Mrs Spirito with a tilue lamp in gratitude for her community work. Several visitors and locals are listed as enjoying summer time events and visits in the town.
A Saturday June 28 ceremony at Church of the Cross in Winnipeg united Alma Forest of Beausejour with Arsmond Gingras of Fort Francis Ontario. The bride wore a white brocaded gown with red roses in her bouquet and pink accessories for the attendants. They will reside in Fort Francis after a reception at Beausejour.

Beausejour and Lac du Bonnet hosted a large Canada Day celebration with a parade led by the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Prizes went to Klingbell for The Rose Queen float and Violet Rattai won the gate prize. The event raised funds for the War Memorial Recreation Centre, featuring a ball tournament, horse races, boxing, wrestling, and a town Hall dance with 450 attendees.
Pinawa and area residents share vacation updates with Winnipeg trips and visits. Families including Mrs H Leith and Mrs Alf Shanks travel to Winnipeg for days, while Miss Margaret Pearson vacations with her father M Pearson. Families Texmo and Texmo relatives visit Seven Sisters Falls and Winnipeg with health updates on Gordon Texmo. Local visitors include Pearl Wentz Bob Pearson Lily Nelson Helmer Tyndall and family from Pointe du Bois.
Mr and Mrs A McKenzie were honored at a June 28 farewell at the Rigg home before departing for Saulie St Marie where Mr McKenzie has been transferred. Guests danced to music by Mrs Lyons Rigg and Frayne with a buffet supper. A beautiful electric clock was presented by G Bayly as a token of friendship and good wishes for their new posting.
Louisa Kettzer aged 90 died Monday at her son Herman Fenning’s Beausejour home after years of ill health. Born in Germany she moved to Canada 38 years ago settling in Beausejour where she lived until death. Funeral July 2 at 2:30 pm in Russell Funeral Chapel with Rev H Moertelmeyer officiating. Burial in Beausejour cemetery. Survived by five sons Herman Beausejour Ben Port Arthur Emil Edenwold Sask Eric Birch Bay Man August Whiteman Sask and two daughters Mrs Rosen Winnipeg and Mrs Witzki Detroit.
Henry Hiebert aged 62 died suddenly on June 30 at the Beausejour home of his brother in law A D Friesen where he had been a guest for a week Born in Winkler Manitoba he had lived there until the family moved to Toronto Funeral service was held Sunday July 6 from Russell's Funeral Chapel to the Baptist Church Rev Friesen officiated Burial was in Beausejour cemetery Surviving are his widow Margaret a son Henry of Toronto three daughters Mrs Gertrude Martin Toronto Marie Toronto and Margaret Beausejour
Beausejour and Pine Falls played a tight 9 inning game Sunday afternoon, June 29, with the score tied 3-3 after eight. Pine Falls finally broke the deadlock in the late innings to take the win as Beausejour couldn’t push across the go ahead run.
Pine Falls rallied to win 4-3 over Beausejour in a seesaw game. Beausejour’s lineup featured Englet McMaster Kaatz Dugard Stepaniuk Koslack and Drysdale Ridley Morfoot while Pine Falls used Sokoloski McDonald Sokoloski Harrison Kolesnick Trifinov Hebert Bruneau and Trudell with Umpires Kubesh and Malo.
Four Pine Falls players led by Chester Lukasiewicz with 79 edged Kenora by three strokes to win the Free Press trophy at Southwood golf course in Manitoba and Ontario district matches. Team total 329, Bran don placed third, and Pine Falls finished ninth in the inter club title out of 34 entries, beating Kenora for tenth again.
Jean Chipilski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Chipilski of Ladywood, married Paul Melnyk of Winnipeg at Holy Ghost church on June 21. The bride wore white satin with long sleeves and a floor-length veil. bouquets featured American Beauty roses. Bridesmaids Margaret Hill and Helen Rusak, groomsmen Paul Shumilac and Frank Chipilski attended. The couple will reside in Winnipeg.
Lillian Melnichenko daughter of S. Melnichenko Elma and William Wasiuta son of G. Wasiuta Elma married at Wasiuta Melnichenko Whitemouth United Church on June 21. Rev E Eustace Winnipeg officiated. Reception at Elma Hall drew over 500 guests. They will reside in Elma after a brief wedding trip.
A. W. Hammerstedt, recently awarded the Medal of Honor asa Orden, will broadcast greetings to Sweden via CKRC on July 9, with an electrical transcription to allow re broadcasts across the Dominion. The ceremony marked a rare Canadian honor as Hammerstedt could not attend in person.
Gordon Bandola travels to Farlane Ontario for summer with his parents. Olga Kohut heads to Malachi Ontario for holidays before returning to Elma for Grade XI. Paul Mahara of Winnipeg visits for the long weekend. Dick Wendeborn goes to Winnipeg for summer work. L. Dubel of Winnipeg spends Dominion Day with relatives.
