Britain’s babies healthier now than prewar years
The Ministry of Health reports for 1946 show child mortality from ages one to fourteen at new lows, surpassing 1939 levels. Maternal mortality is at a record low, halving over nine years with fewer than two deaths per thousand deliveries and 46 infant deaths in the first year. Britain also ships 55 pedigree sheep and 35 lambs to Rome, aiding UNRRA recovery efforts.

Beausejour players joined with Langruth reinforcements to form a strong squad at Portage on June 25. They beat Portage 15 7 in their opener, then lost to Neepawa 11 1 in a high scoring rout, finishing fourth and earning 50 dollars. Poplar Point won the final over Neepawa for the top prize.
