Voyageurs Visit Pine Falls in Centennial Canoe Trek
British Columbia Voyageurs arrive in Pine Falls in three 16 foot canoes as their Centennial project. They left Rocky Mountain House on June 6 and expect to reach Montreal in late August with stops in North Battleford and Winnipeg. The group stayed with local families, a group photo taken at the Berthelette home.

Pine Falls Cadet Corps Holds Annual Inspection And Awards
The Pine Falls Army Cadet Corps, led by Capt. J.W. Whitford, inspected by Alderman Col. Robert Taft and staff, awarded Hunter Training Certificates and Master Cadet Badges to cadets, and presented a new best all round cadet trophy. A village Green demonstration followed, then a reception. Patricia Baker of Pinawa Collegiate was invited to a Manitoba math and computer science seminar at the University of Manitoba. The Winnipeg Rock and Mineral Club hosts a 3 day gem and mineral exhibition at St James Recreation Centre July 16 to 18 with free admission and door prizes.

Norma Okrainec Crowned 1971 Manitoba 4-H Queen
Norma Okrainec of Lac du Bonnet was named 1971 4-H Queen of Manitoba at Manisphere in Winnipeg on July 3. Eleven girls from Manitoba clubs competed after earning District Rally Queen titles. Prizes included silver spoons from T. Eaton Company and robes for the queen and two princesses.
