The Lac du Bonnet Rural Municipal Council held its first meeting of 1954 55 with Reeve E Wojciechowski presiding and councillors Mazur Horn Belluk and Drabyk plus clerk Teare Also present were M Yakem who queried Prairie Farm Assistance Act delays and reviewed the NE 2015 9E assessment A 28 signature drain petition was tabled along with 1954 grant allocations to Children's Aid Salvation Army and St John Ambulance A sidewalk plan to connect Fourth Street to the church was approved and may extend to the rectory Election of church officers and a synod delegate was completed followed by parish lunch.

Cromwell 4-H Club To Grow Selkirk Wheat
The Cromwell 4-H Seed Club held its January 7 1954 meeting at Alf Modjeskis home. Officers elected were President Joe Sza jewski Vice-president Raymond Jurewicz Sec-Treas Lawrence Jurewicz and Club reporter Richard Ottenbriet. The club plans to grow rust resistant Selkirk wheat next crop year with tips from agricultural rep T A Sandercock to ensure a successful year.

The Whitemouth Municipal Council met on Tuesday January 5 chaired by Reeve Ed Henderson with Councillors Lange Sudlet sky Leegus and George Berrick and Secretary W D Meyers. Appointments were made for 1954 Municipal Timber Inspector Frank Kellner and Sanitary Officer Tony Kellner. A petition by the Chamber of Commerce for mercury vapor lights was noted as favored by the majority of ratepayers.

School Teachers Attend Cadet Instructor Course
Nearly 100 teachers from Saskatchewan Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario completed a Royal Canadian Army Cadets Instructor Training Course in Winnipeg December 27 to 30. Courses covered rifle range safety map reading drill and instruction techniques under Major R Graves with Major General N E Rodger welcoming participants. The Ladies Aid of the Beausejour Lutheran church set February 12 for a Valentine Tea at the Beausejour Hotel. They solicit used clothing donations for shipment to needy Koreans and will knit during meetings to produce items for year end distribution to those in need.
