LAC DU BONNET Hubert and Art Arsenault take over Lakeview Taxi from Stan Ches ter and offer full day and night local trips or to any point in Manitoba from the Tourist Garage with two cars. Veterans Len Watson and Raymond Sellers start a Winnipeg taxi business, importing a 1947 cab and making first trip home on the 16th.

Elma Residents Attend Visits and Weather Delay

Johnny Zavaduk from United College Winnipeg spent the weekend with his parents A and M Zavaduk. O Hautamaki of Ghost River Ont visited to renew acquaintances. Leo Leegus, a University of Manitoba senior, visited his family. Aro Sukava and Thomas Laaja returned from Ghost River Ont after two months employed there. Hikki Waill an aged woodcutter at Rybak sawmill was rushed to Winnipeg for treatment after both hands froze. Elma hall held its first banquet and dance of the year on Feb 22 with music by Dick Wendeborn and the Stastock brothers. Miss M Storsley, Elma School principal, visited Beausejour. A Winnipeg plane en route to Sioux Lookout diverted near the village due to weather. pilot and brother stayed overnight and resumed flight Monday. Marie North, grade ten, was absent last week but has returned to class.

Seven Sisters Falls Social News

Mrs G M Ambrose spent a few days in Winnipeg and returned home Friday. W Lewis and family moved into their new home and were joined by Mrs Lewis who has been in hospital in Winnipeg. Her health has improved and a full recovery is hoped. Visitors included Marion Williams Marjorie Hudson Art Braund Mr and Mrs Ted Braund Enid and Bernice Cousins Luc A Bartley and Mr and Mrs B Collis. Local hockey team travelled to Great Falls for a game on Sunday February 16 and lost after a good game. Jack Howcraft hurt his knee in the game and remains at home. Mrs S Ellis Mrs J Carl and Mrs Weltz visited the city over the weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Lodge of Winnipeg visited the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Anderson, last week. Lodge, an Honorary Life Member and avid curler, played a few games with his former curling associates during the visit.

St Valentine Party At Local High School Ends With Food And Games

The High School students enjoyed a jolly St Valentine party on Thursday evening beginning with a Tally-Ho drive from the school along the highway and returning to the school for indoor games and hot dogs. George Live and Donald Burbidge were home from Winnipeg for a short visit last weekend.
