Beausejour Lions announce a February 18 19 Winter Carnival featuring eight ice act attractions and Bud Abbott as an ice comedian. CJOB’s Chuck Cook will MC on Saturday. Friday hockey pits Beausejour against Winnipeg Army team. Queen crown with a silver replica prize. past queens Hanna Luke 1948 and Connie Gable 1947 honored. Voting ends Feb 18 with crowning Feb 19. costumes contests for all ages and a Winnipeg Ice Capades cast appearance.

The Beausejour Lions Club Winter Carnival runs February 18 to 19 with skating acts from Winnipeg and Pine Falls and an exhibition hockey game against Winnipeg’s Army team. Votes for Carnival Queen are on sale to raise funds for the new Memorial Arena.

Friends and family honor Julius Milbrandt on his 90th birthday in Whitemouth. A surprise party at the Malkoski home features gifts, a nine candle cake, and a group singalong. Attendees include sons, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and local neighbors. Milbrandt is celebrated as a pioneer who helped build the town and its rail line.

A surprise party in Lac du Bonnet marked Mrs. O Erickson’s 76th birthday with 52 guests arriving unannounced. The Ericksons, Swedish immigrants who settled in 1908, were toasted during an evening of reminiscences and community songs.

Lac du Bonnet Council Sets Winter Road, Drain and Tax Plans

Lac du Bonnet Municipal Council met February 1 2 with reeve and councillors present. They debated keeping the Lettonia district road open all winter and approved projects for drainage grated to the municipal engineer for funding. By laws include prohibiting livestock running at large and establishing a pound keeper at John A Halliday's premises. Several tax collection and payment approvals were recorded along with survey orders under the Special Surveys Act.

Lec du Bonnet Legion Ladies' Auxiliary Meeting Notes 1949

The Cana dian Legion No. 164 auxiliary met January 24 in the Legion hall. Mrs. LeVasseur chaired the meeting as retiring president. New officers were installed with Mrs. S Torrance becoming president for 1949. Three new members were initiated: Mesdames Rousseau, Sparman, and Miss Jean Syderko. Lunch duties at hockey games were assigned to Mrs. LeVasseur as convener.
