A. W. Hanks was elected president of the Prairie Publishers Co operative Limited at a Regina meeting. Sixty eight weekly publishers from the prairie provinces formed the group and purchased the Regina plant of Toronto Type Foundry Limited. Capital is 100000 dollars, with about 65000 dollars in asset transfers. Directors include J A Vopni Walter Ashfield H G Thunell G McKay and Stirling King. Management of the Regina plant stays with G H Slous. Esther Heagy is treasurer and J P O Donnell secretary.

At the Ross United church annual meeting in Whitemouth reports noted a satisfactory year across departments. Ken Beal opened the session. Sunday school and women's auxiliary receipts totaled $142.30 and $1,054.29, with $818.14 reported by Mrs. L. Pommer. Mary Zajac read the C.G.L.T. report. the group was started by Mrs. Pommer and later led by Miss Helen Johnson. new officers elected include Mrs Len Pommer, Mrs Felix Carlson, William Henderson, Paul Paulsen, Fred Anderson, Doug Fotheringham, and Angus McMillan.

Lowland Ladies Plan Banquet and Prizes
The Lowland local of the farmers' union met on January 22 to plan a banquet and raffle to defray local expenses. Events will be held twice yearly. Donated prizes include an electric toaster, chenille bedroom rug, and an electric clock. Beausejour Music Teacher Sees Composition Accepted
Edwin Walker, Beausejour School of Music principal, has broken into Tin Pan Alley by getting his composition Song of the Wrinkle Box accepted by the Oahu Publishing Co. This marks a rare breakthrough for an unknown composer outside major circles and suggests future success for his other works.

Whitemouth Farewell Service for Rev Hennig
A large congregation attended the farewell service at Redeemer Lutheran church Whitemouth on Sunday January 25 for Rev William Hennig who has accepted a call to a parish in the States. He spoke of wanting to see the building of the new church and wished happiness and success to the parishioners in the years ahead. He also preached his farewell at St Pauls church River Hills. Both congregations presented gifts to Rev and Mrs Hennig and wished them success in their new life.

Pine Falls Wins Springman Trophy in Bunspiel
Six clubs entered thirteen rinks in the Ladies North-Eastern Manitoba bunsspiel at Lac du Bonnet over the weekend. Pine Falls, Lac du Bonnet, Great Falls, Pointe du Bois, White Mouth and Beausejour were represented with Pine Falls taking the Springman trophy by defeating Lac du Bonnet skipped by Mrs. Zikman. Great Falls captured the Jones Memorial, Lac du Bonnet’s Mrs. Zeemel lost to Mrs. Reid’s Great Falls rink. Mrs. Wardrap of Lac du Bonnet won the Gret Singer trophy by beating White Mouth’s Mrs. Latta. A banquet and concert followed with Rube Cohen in charge of catering.

Farmers' Union Meets at Whitemouth
A large crowd attended the farmers union meeting in the White mount municipal hall on January 26 with Albert Hildebrandt chairing. Members showed keen interest in constitutional amendments and resolutions. A cooperative buying program offering about 20 percent discount was discussed. William Gander, provincial director, spoke on recent union progress. Next meeting set for Monday February 23.

Couple Celebrates 35 Years Together
More than two hundred people attended the thirty-fifth wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dudek of Garson at the Tyndall Orange hall on Saturday January 31. Edward was absent due to injuries from a fall in hospital. A kitchen chrome set and purse of money were presented.

Fertilizer Trials Highlight Value and Limits
Recert department of agriculture trials on farms across the province show 11-40-0 and 16-20-0 blends increasing grain yields. On fallow land 11-48-0 phosphate boosts cereal, while stubble land benefits come from nitrogen and phosphate. Potash shows little effect. The study urges wider fertilizer use for farm production.

U of M Stages Annual Winter Fair
The seventh annual Student Winter Fair of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba Fort Garry runs Saturday February 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It features handicrafts displays a large seed and forage show and a livestock showmanship competition in the campus rink. The fair is a cooperative student enterprise and a distinctive university project.
