An Anglican service is planned in Anderson Halls on December 30 by Rev E K Bissell of Lac du Bonnet with Sunday School in the afternoon. A newcomer Mrs Bell and her twin daughters Eirleen and Anne arrive as the new housekeeper for Mr J H Fensorm and a Christmas concert is set for Broadlands School on Thursday afternoon. Sam Baker departs December 20 for Gunner Gold Mines at Long Lake as part of the local notices.

Canada leads world with vocational training for veterans

Canada pioneered vocational training as a rehabilitative measure for armed forces. More than half of 9,385 veterans used re establishment credits in October for furniture and household equipment, with $1,727,981 disbursed that month and $8,346,060 overall to 48,420 ex‑service men and women. Holland to buy six whaling vessels and tanker for factory ship

London reports Holland will acquire six UK whaling ships and a Swedish tanker to convert into a factory ship. A government supported company will operate with about £1,100,000 capital. The plan aims to make Holland more self sufficient in fats, save foreign exchange, and create many jobs.
