Lac du Bonnet Highway Death Ruled Accidental

The inquiry into the November death of Mrs. Katie Sydorko resumed under coroner Dr L W Sneath. After hearing evidence and reviewing photos, the jury found accidental death and cleared John McKenzie of Winnipeg, the car driver, of blame.

Mercy Flight Helps Trapper From Charron Lake

Central Manitoba pilot Jack McDonald of Lac du Bonnet led a mercy flight to northern Manitoba to retrieve trapper Thomas Boulanger, 40, of Berens River, who severed his hand with an axe near Charron Lake on November 29. Despite snow squalls, the Lac du Bonnet to Charron Lake round trip took four hours last Tuesday.

Lac du Bonnet Rural Council Notes December Meeting

LAC DU BONNET RURAL COUNCIL held a December 7 meeting with Reeve E Wojciechowski and councilors Mazur Bilan Davies and Balluk present. They discussed snow plow staffing, sale of tax land to W Wickner, and final approval of a subdivision in 7 and 8 15 11. Several accounts were approved for payment to numerous individuals and businesses.

Legion Ladies Auxiliary Holds Christmas Meeting at Legion Hall

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary at Lac Du Bonnet met Thursday December 2 due to a clash with the annual Christmas concert. Attendance was strong. Officers were elected for next year and a recreational committee was formed with Mrs Blanchard and Mrs Tomlinson appointed.

CP Operator Burned In Elma Fire After Coal Oil Incident

Eric N. Woodard a CN R night operator was badly burned when a can exploded in his hands as he attempted to light a stove with coal oil after returning home at 4 am. A bucket brigade formed and George Proceviat crawled into the blaze to extinguish it. Woodard rolled into the snow to smother the flames. He was taken to Misericordia hospital in fair condition. Damage to nearby buildings hovered near 300 dollars, insured. The Woodards had moved in a week before and lost clothing valued over 200 dollars.
