Mother Dies on Highway Near Lac du Bonnet

Mrs Walter Sydorko aged 24 died after being hit on Highway one and a half miles north of Lac du Bonnet on November 27. Her two year old daughter Shirley was seriously injured with both legs broken. the child survived initial treatment and the funeral for Mrs Sydorko was held December 1. An inquest opened December 6 in Lac du Bonnet.

Beausejour Becomes Stage for Fun For You Show

Beausejour branch of the Canadian Legion presents Fun For You at Town Hall on December 2 to 4. Local talent impersonates screen and radio stars. winners of Tiny Tot Popularity earn silver cups. Connie Trithart Miss Van Nice and Will Sutton lead a lively stage event where numbers called yield prize winners. Joe Abramson posed as Dr LQ and handed out dollars for sharp audience answers. Al Bronstein as Tom Brenneman distributed perfume corsages stationery and nylons with Alvin Hayes on piano. Miss Van Nice organized and directed the cast, earning high praise for the production.

Successful Amateur Night at Lac du Bonnet delight

The Ladies curling club led by Mrs. M V Faris hosted an Amateur Night with seventeen contestants under MC Harry Teal. Rita Pitre won first for I'm Tony, with Mesdames Fournier and Lavoie second for a Western number and Verna Brown with Shirley Choma third for a Black Face duet. Mayor Sparman praised the program and dancing followed, as sponsors and volunteers were thanked.

Nick Macauk dies at 73 in Beausejour

Nick Macauk died November 26 at St. Boniface Hospital in his 74th year. He was the husband of Mildred Macauk of Beausejour. Funeral services were held November 30 at the Greek Catholic church Beausejour, with burial in Beausejour cemetery. Russell funeral home assisted.
