Fire Devastates Whitemouth Massey Harris Agency Site
A December 2 blaze in Whitemouth destroyed a Massey Harris agency and an adjoining garage, wiping out $40,000 in farm implements and a $7,000 school bus. Total losses approach $60,600 as owner Julius Bencharski lacked a volunteer fire brigade to save the four year old brick building. He and a second truck inside were lost to dense smoke before rescue could occur. The fire likely started from the furnace used to heat the garage, leaving Whitemouth Consolidated School students without bus service on Friday morning. Insurance partially covered the loss.

Fire Destroys Summer Home at Lac du Bonnet
A wooden log cabin belonging to T G Breen of Winnipeg burned near Lac du Bonnet on Friday evening December 3. George Cure alerted F M Brown and the village fire department arrived to find the home gutted save for chimney and fireplace. Breen was reportedly traveling back to Winnipeg when notified. the cause remains undetermined and insurance status unknown.

Pine Falls Game and Fish Banquet Celebrates Members and Prizes
Pine Falls Game and Fish Association held its annual banquet and dance at the Chateau with nearly 300 attendees. W. K. Spence led grace, S. W. Jackson toasted the Queen, and Ernie Coote introduced past president Jack Dulake who presented the SUNDE trophy to Dave Crawford for the heaviest pickerel. Prizes for mallards, bass, geese, sun bass, perch, jackfish, lake trout, and trap shoot honors were awarded to various members including A. B. Robinson and Ken McDonald. The program featured a Manitoba Federation talk by Paul Murphy, movie safety shorts, and a floor show before dancing with the Stardusters.

Pilgrimage at Beausejour Parish Shrine Draws Crowds
Little Britain and Petersfield parishes held a December 5 pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette at Beausejour. Mass followed a 1 30 p m service led by the Little Britain pastor with Rev Father P Jaworski delivering the sermon. The shrine has hosted large pilgrimages from St Boniface Winnipeg and Northwestern Ontario, with groups sometimes exceeding a thousand. A December 8 United States Airmen pilgrimage from the nearby base is planned for 3 p m led by Father Kaworski with Father F Kula assisting.

The Seven Sisters Square Dance Club hosted about 50 dancers from Whitemouth on Tuesday November 30 with Jean Gibbins and Jack Howcroft presenting an entertaining program and help from the Wardrops and Jorgensens. Fred King celebrated a Silver Wedding Anniversary on November 23 with a chrome dining room Banks gift. Ernie Harris RCAF returned from Germany for Christmas leave and announces his marriage. his wife will join him in Canada soon. Dan Harris returns home for the winter from a steel tech role in Great Falls. The Friendly Ladies Club met November 29. proceeds from Sadie Hawkins will fund kitchen upgrades, and a quilt will be raffled. The Xmas party will be hosted by Mrs Norman Hanke. The skating rink near-ready and hockey plans point to a 16-year-old team this winter. Hughie Oxholm is missed. Birthdays for Marlene and Linda Kristofferson noted.
