Weselak Wins Springfield Seat By Wide Margin

Liberal Progressive Weselak captured the Springfield seat with a 4138 vote lead over Frank de Graff of the CCF as 83 of 93 polls reported. Reported totals show L Bibero vich 280, A Bileski 429, de Graff 1837, J Sinnott 948, J Slogan 991, Paul Trapp 1049.

Great Falls Clothing Club Wins at Brandon Exhibition

The Great Falls 4H clothing club succeeded at the Brandon exhibition held June 29 to July 4, winning prize money in the display class. The display showcased a cotton study with eleven inch dolls in outfits for work play sleep travel and dancing. Valerie Jacques won for a white pullover sweater and Ruth Gaffray for a blue angora sweater in knitting.

Garson Junior hockey club enjoyed an afternoon of fun at Lockport on Sunday August 2 led by coach Vic Wazney and manager Fred Leiman. A Seven Sisters community club executive met on Thursday August 6 with attendees Art Krampetz J Brand H Leith M Everson S Gittins and Mrs Oxholm. The annual Beausejour picnic was canceled. The bail grounds facilities were granted to Upper Seven Sisters Friendly Fellows club for their August 30 ball tournament. Mr and Mrs H Baker were named to audit the books. A nomination committee of Fred Oxholm Mrs McGibbin and Mrs F King was chosen to nominate officers for the September general meeting.

Reverend S Borys Celebrates Fifteen Years Pastorship

In cooperation with Beausejour and nearby parishes a surprise party was held August 1 at the Ukrainian parish hall to honor Very Rev S Borys on his 15th anniversary of pastorship. Good Roads Officials Begin Inspection Tour

Manitoba Good Roads officials launch a province wide inspection of municipal roads towns and villages to judge road building maintenance and beautification. The contest weights surface condition slopes ditches vegetation culverts and bridges with a new three year scoring system and includes five beautification classes for towns villages unincorporated areas and farm buildings.
