Born in Seven Sisters district he attended Winnipeg Falls School and worked as a carpenter. An active church member he served on the River Hills Lutheran Church Board and aided community projects including the River Hills Hungry Nine Fastball Club in his youth.

Hadashville Chamber of Commerce convened a meeting to discuss completing No 11 Highway from Hadashville to the U S border.
