Literary social at Congregational Church Thursday night
The Congregational Church invites all to a 7 30 p m literary social with a helpful analysis of scripture, light refreshments, and fun. The beginner's force in the S S leads the gathering. A welcome to young people in the new Bible school class taught by Prof Wood. Sunday morning class runs 10 to 11. A devotional service Sunday March 15 at 11 features a sermon on the 5th chapter of Corinthians with the topic Church Discipline.

Peru Resident Passed Away After Brief Illness
August Evend, 60, esteemed Peru resident, died at People's hospital at 4 30 Sunday after a week long illness. Survived by widow, one daughter Marie, two sons Frederick and Walter. Also survived by two sisters Mrs. Charles Redeen and Mrs. George De Groot and two brothers Henry and Robert of West Allis Wisconsin.

Will Settle Estate Of Nels Johnson In Local Probate

Brown Brothers sell Spring Valley Utilities to Illinois Power
The Spring Valley Utilities Company owned by Don Brown Harry Brown Charles Brown and Roy Brown is sold to Illinois Power and Light Company for about 1.5 million dollars. Final approval from the Illinois Commerce Commission is pending and no rate changes are expected. The deal expands the Brown brothers’ holdings to roughly 1.65 million dollars and leaves the Illinois Power and Light Company as a large multi state utility.
