Lafayette Anniversary Tour by American Band in Auvergne
On September 6 1918 American soldiers from Col Conklin's 300th field artillery visited Aubiere in Auvergne to honor Lafayette on the 106th anniversary of his birth. The band traveled by train and wagon to Chateau de Lafayette Chavagnac for a grand outdoor celebration with French locals, a dinner, and a concert led by Arthur Shepherd before returning to Aubiere at night.
