Spur from the East Into De Pue Proposed to Improve Travel
Committees from Spring Valley and De Pue push a new highway from the east to De Pue with Engineer Surman expected to inspect. H A Bailey advocates the road after meeting Gov Small and Col Miller, with backing from the De Pue Community Club and Spring Valley Association of Commerce. The plan would connect near Nigger Creek to Marquette street, about 2000 feet, with right of way secured and funds needed for grading and gravel. The route would reroute eastbound traffic away from detours and avoid impassable segments east of Nigger Creek.
