Social Affairs Birthday Surprise At Mrs Biunson Home

Last Thursday at Mrs Mable Biunson home friends organized a birthday surprise party. Mr and Mrs S C Vestegaard celebrated their second anniversary quietly on the 22nd, spending the day at the lakes. A Sunday school class of seventeen girls enjoyed a field trip with teacher Mrs Killpatrick and T H McLane driving. About fifty Congregational Men’s Club members planned a lake picnic at Eagles Point last Wednesday. The Methodist Brotherhood plans a similar trip today.

Epworth League Convention Delegates Meet in Sioux Rapids

Freemen Township Picnic and Local Weddings Highlight Summer

Freeman township held a joint school picnic in the Ed ward grove east of Spencer with six graduates named Selma Philquist Mabel Pierson Ghidyshaington John Rosaker Harold Toland Bernard Wischmeyer. A wedding occurred June 21 at the home of Mr and Mrs Wm Manson when Mabel Harriet wed John E Ford of Orient Town officiated by Rey Hawks. Out of town guests arrived and a three course supper followed a forty guest reception. The bride wore white embroidery and carnations. The groom is a new arrival in Clay County. They will reside in Orient Town after July 1st. Family and friends extended best wishes and gifts.

Rev Leichleiter Reaches sixtieth birthday milestone

Last Sunday marked Rev. Leichleiter's sixtieth birthday in Ufe's journey. His son C. L. Leichleiter, Sunday editor of the Record Herd in Chicago, arrived home after eight years away. A family gathering was held on Monday for the birthday dinner.

Overcome By Heat Evanglist Williams

Williams collapsed from heat during Sunday services at the church meeting. He exhausted himself in his sermons and could not leave for home on Monday as planned. Attendance was small but attendees reported a strong blessing from the meetings.

It Pays to Keep Sheep Near Byerly R B Kane

R B Kane of near Byerly started with 150 ewes and raised 122 lambs. He shipped two carloads of sheep, earning a large sum, and his clip added about 200 more. He has 122 ewes left, 122 lambs, and a wood clip of about 100 pounds unsold plus hogs and cows.

Snakes Found in Barnyard Ending Nine Total

In a barnyard owned by A. Dyhrkapp, a collection of snakes was found with several dead. Noah Davis killed one of the largest, and Mr. Bartleson killed two more, bringing the total to nine. Sherby Rive noted the count to help Spencer determine if all had been located.

Births Reported Near Mc Allister Turm

On the Vth a fine eleven pound boy was born to Mr and Mrs Dans Waderson who reside on the Mc Allister turm west of town. He is a lusty fellow and will not have to grow much before the plow. On the 16th Mrs Martin Vanderland presented her husband with a thirteen pound bay. Martin seems satisfied and happy, and will not have to wait long for a plow boy and corn hasker.

Marriage of Miss Minn Robison to W H Marrison

The wedding occurs at the home of the bride’s brother Will Robison with Rev T D Collins officiating at 5 o clock. The bride Miss Minn Robison is well regarded, the groom W H Marrison hails from Monmouth Illinois. After the ceremony the couple leaves for their new home by the early train. Mrs Robison the bride’s mother plans a visit to Grinnell then to Monmouth to live with her daughter. The News offers congratulations.

North Iowa Pike travels from Sioux City to Estherville route

Gustafson Becomes Pastor at Swedish Lutheran Church

Rev. A. E. Gustafson is installed as pastor of the Swedish Lutheran church in Spencer Lincoln. He studied eight years at Augusland College and Theological Seminary in Rock Tshand UK and was ordained by the Augustana Synod at the Galesburg annual meeting. He served Cedar Rapids seven years and has thirteen years within the synod. The congregation welcomes him as they plan church advancement and his pleasing speaking to guide service.

Midsummer Picnic at Lincoln Church Under Swedish Tradition

Death's Summons Grieves Community at Laura Templeton's Passing

The community mourns Mrs Laura Templeton born Ottawa Illinois April 21 1861 who died after months of ill health.
