Fire at Elder Home Destroys House and Contents Near Spencer
Sunday noon blaze at the home of Mr and Mrs James Elder northeast of Spencer in Sioux Township caused by a stove defect. The house and most furniture were destroyed but the family saved much of the rest. Within a day adjustors from Clay County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association issued payments totaling 1900 to Mr Elder.

Golden Wedding Celebration at Peterson for Fulton couple
On Monday evening February 7 in Peterson Iowa, Mr and Mrs Fulton celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home on West Third Street. Relatives gathered including many grandchildren and great grandchildren, with out of town guests from Donalson Minnesota Linn Grove and Cherokee Iowa. The couple married in New York State February 7 1866 and moved to Cherokee County around 1871. A simple ceremony led by Rev Mueller followed a three course dinner and a serenade from friends.
