Soldiers Monument Contract Awarded for Barre Granite
Last Tuesday the contract for a soldiers monument was let to Elvin Johnson, a local monument dealer, for two thousand dollars. The base will be 6 by 6 feet, the die 8 by 9 feet and 8 1 feet tall, topped by a soldier figure at parade rest. The monument will be erected this summer in Barre Vermont of gray granite, reflecting an era of improvement and progress.
