Analysts warn the threat has spread in numbers and geography, challenging Bush administration claims the world is safer.
Jackson County State's Attorney Michael Wepsiec rests his case against Reginald McGhee also known as Randy Jackson in the Pay Day Cash armed robbery trial in Carbondale. Key witness Michael Dailey testified McGhee was his accomplice. Dailey has pleaded guilty to a separate 2005 bank robbery in Gorham and faced dismissed charges in this case under a negotiated plea.
Area crews pressed Tuesday to repair damage from weekend thunderstorms and a tornado. Illinois Youth Center cadets assisted at Kinkaid Lake clearing about 20 downed trees at the Glenn Schlimpert Reserve Picnic Area and aiding the marina cleanup. David Fligor of the Conservancy District praised the cadets for their timely help and said the district lacked manpower. Egyptian Electrical Cooperative crews also worked on repairs.
New court records reveal Tiffany Hall, 24, faced a 1999 inquiry into abuse of her daughter, leading to the removal of her children. The documents, unsealed after her arrest on charges of slaying a pregnant friend and allegedly cutting a fetus from her womb, also tie her to investigations into the victim’s three children. Judge O Malley said the public deserved to know portions of Hall’s juvenile history despite no charges then.
