Ex Marion convict recaptured after fatal stabbing flight
Ex Marion, Ill. convict and author Jack Henry Abbott, wanted for questioning in a Lower East Side stabbing, was captured at an oil workers camp outside Morgan City Louisiana. He had been at the camp for some time, earning $4 an hour plus room and board, and was identified from photos provided by New York authorities. Abbott’s book In the Belly of the Beast details his prison years, and royalties have reached about $100,000. He fled after the July 18 incident following a dispute with a waiter at a restaurant near the halfway house.
