Roger Catfish Johnson 70 Dies. longtime Zeigler police officer
Roger Catfish Johnson, 70, of Zeigler died September 17 2001 at Herrin Hospital. A former Illinois State Policeman, Korean War and Marine veteran, he served 29 years in law enforcement and was a deacon and Youth Leader at Zeigler First Baptist Church. Survived by Ruth Wright Johnson, a daughter Cathy Swalls, a son Scott Johnson, a granddaughter Samantha Johnson, and several siblings. Funeral at 10 a.m. Sept 20 at Vantrease Funeral Home Zeigler with burial at Zeigler Cemetery and military rites by the Zeigler American Legion. Memorials to Zeigler First Baptist Church. Also listed are notices for Elizabeth Graham and other deaths in the area.
