Four die as barges hit causeway near Port Isabel
A tug with four barges struck the Queen Isabella Causeway near Port Isabel early Saturday, sending a 160-foot span section into the channel and plunging vehicles into 85 feet of water. At least four died, with others missing, and two hospitalized as divers rescued five vehicles. The bridge was to be closed for repairs for at least a week while engineers assess options.
