The third Rec-Fest will be held Sept 19 at SIU Carbondale Recreation Center with activities from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to midnight. SIU Carbondale students staff and alumni are invited to join in volleyball rope jumping horseshoes basketball indoor relays and a one pitch 16 inch slow pitch softball tournament plus wheelchair events including basketball boccie table tennis earth ball and a quarter mile run.

White Sox Add Outfielder From Mexico City Reds
The White Sox obtain Jerryson Hatt a switch hitting outfielder from the Mexico City Reds of the Mexican League for a cash deal. The 29 year old will join the team in Minnesota on Saturday after hitting .293 with 74 RBIs and 32 steals in Mexico, setting an RBI record before playoffs. A former major leaguer, he batted .283 for the White Sox in 1975.
