Skyward Dream Skyscraper Proposed Near Chicago Loop
Chicago sources say Skidmore Owings and Merrill design a 169 story tower 2300 feet tall near the Loop. The project would hold up to 45000 people with offices condos stores and a hotel in 4 to 6 million square feet. Land options have been purchased and wind tunnel tests ordered, but land cost financing and investor commitment loom as obstacles.

Self inflicted abortion case involving two 18 year olds
An 18 year old woman Lorri Gray and her boyfriend Nicholas Hamilton pleaded innocent to a charge of violating state abortion laws by inducing a pregnancy outside a hospital. They were indicted by a Cook County grand jury and released on bond pending a court date. Hamilton drove Gray to a forest preserve where she allegedly shot herself in the abdomen before they sought medical help.

Edwardsville judge saves old jail from demolition
Circuit Judge Jonathan Isbell ruled in favor of Edwardsville to save the 110 year old Madison County Jail by designating it a historic site, blocking county plans to demolish it. The Goshen Preservation Alliance was denied a contract claim, while the county vows appeals to higher courts and possibly the U.S. Supreme Court.

Arson Blamed for Church Fire in O'Fallon
In St. Barnabas Catholic Church and elementary school in O'Fallon Missouri an arson fire caused about 350000 in damage. No injuries were reported though two small fires were set in sacristy closets. The blaze was discovered at 1108 PM and controlled near midnight with no arrests.
