New iPhone launch honors Steve Jobs at Apple stores
Crowds gathered at Apple stores including Fifth Avenue in New York to honor Steve Jobs as the new iPhone 4S went on sale in seven countries. Tony Medina waited nine hours through rain to join about 200 people in tribute, while Steve Wozniak led a Los Gatos line on a Segway. The device ships through Apple and carriers AT&T Sprint Verizon plus retailers with preorders online. Investors and fans noted the release felt less revolutionary than previous launches as demand remained strong but excitement cooled.
