Judges Named to Panel for Illinois Congressional Remap

Springfield AP The fate of at least two Illinois congressmen hinges on a three judge federal panel chosen to draw the new congressional map. U.S. District Judges Frank McGarr Susan Getzendanner and Robert Sprecher were named by Chief Justice Walter Cummings to decide the map. The panel is a victory for Republicans who sought federal rather than Cook County court control. Illinois must shed two of its 24 House seats in 1983 due to population shifts since 1970.
