Mayor Brad Cole announced plans for a second term during his State of the City Address at a Carbondale Chamber luncheon. He told business leaders, city officials, and residents that he hopes voters will back his re-election bid.
CARBONDALE Mayor Brad Cole delivered the final State of the City Address for his four year term saying Carbondale has much to be thankful for yet must stay ready for future challenges. He said daily progress is being made and that early progress has shifted from reverse to forward movement.
Weather sources NWS and Farmer’s Almanac predict a colder than last year’s milder winter for Southern Illinois with a above average chill. Experts like Peter Geiger say the season will be notably cold though not as severe as 30 or 40 years ago, urging residents to prepare for a brisk season.
Suspected Shiite militiamen in blue uniforms stormed the Higher Education Ministry in Baghdad abducting about 50 people and freeing some as at least 117 people died nationwide amid mounting violence. Five police officers were arrested in connection with the incident and a Sunni party condemned the abductions as politically charged.
