Grain futures prices were mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade with wheat finishing higher after a midday decline. Wheat for December rose 2 percent to $3.97 a bushel while December corn fell 2 cents to $2.41, December oats dropped 4 1/2 cents to $2.00, and January soybeans slipped 6 cents to $5.68 a bushel.
The session finished with a down close at 8,586.24, off 184.77 from the prior. NYSE consolidated volume reached 1.84 billion and total consolidated issues traded stood at 3,378, with 1,120 issues higher, 2,097 lower, and 161 unchanged.
