Illinois redistricting reshapes Shimkus and Johnson districts

U S Representative John Shimkus faces a larger urban 13th District that would cut much of his current Southern Illinois base. Tim Johnson would represent a sprawling 15th District covering 33 counties, expanding from Champaign Urbana to include Marion, Fayette, Vermilion and other counties. Johnson called the map cynical and partisan, noting it challenges him to cover 33 counties and arrives as the legislature exits.
