Carbondale seeks wireless hot spots downtown

Trains Raise Speed Through Marion on New Policy

Union Pacific will raise speeds through Marion from 35 to 49 mph over the next week on the north south line parallel to Illinois 37. The change begins Thursday with 35 to 40 mph, then reaches 49 mph on June 1. Faster trains reduce crossing wait times, from 1 minute 37 seconds at 35 mph to about 1 minute 2 seconds at 49 mph.
