Murphysboro's 26 police and firefighters have asked for a mediator to settle remaining contract differences with the city. The police and firefighters want more pay, about 6 to 7 percent apart from the city’s offer, and binding arbitration may follow mediation.
Hal Killebrew, former Unit 186 junior high principal, reassigned at the start of the 1980 81 school year, will seek reinstatement at a public hearing Tuesday night. The 7:30 p.m. session in the junior high cafeteria follows an April 28 closed hearing and board actions in March reducing his duties and pay.
