Romney closes in on GOP nomination after wins in Kentucky and Arkansas
Mitt Romney swept Kentucky securing all 42 delegates and won at least 21 of 33 in Arkansas with 12 undecided. He nears 1,144 delegate target with 1,055 pledged and heads to Texas next week as Santorum Gingrich and Paul exit the field. Romney spent the day fundraising, reporting a $5 million haul in New York and a broader $15 million across a three day swing. He will campaign in Washington on Wednesday as he consolidates support for a November matchup against Obama.
