House and Senate strike deal on 350 billion tax cut
The House and Senate tax writers reached a 350 billion package of tax cuts and spending, less than half of President Bush’s initial request. Dividends tax elimination dropped, but the plan is the third largest tax cut in history and aims to finish before Memorial Day. It includes 330 billion in cuts and 20 billion in state aid, with Medicaid earmarked.
