Forester Harry Switzer Drowned in Island Pit
Harry Switzer area forester for the Illinois Conservation Forestry Division drowned when a small rowboat overturned in a borrow pit near Ware while guiding six foreign observers. The coroner’s jury declared death by drowning. Switzer, 42, of Murphysboro, was returning to the mainland from an island where cottonwood studies were conducted.
