Rural Franklin County man’s death uncovers $2.5 million marijuana operation

After a West Frankfort resident collapsed on his porch, deputies found a basement filled with marijuana at 2520 Cedar Hill Road. Investigators say the illicit crop is valued at about 2.5 million dollars while autopsy results await. No foul play suspected, per coroner. Stephen E. Reese, 50, was identified as the deceased resident.

Century High School star Paul Echols' multi talent life

Paul Echols played baseball for Century High School in Ullin during a 28 3 season that reached the Sweet 16. His father was Ullin police chief part time. Carbondale kicks off citywide cleanup to hire youth workers

More than 200 applicants seek eight week program with a $250000 budget to spruce up neighborhoods. Yolande Mosely Ajamu says about 80 youths will be hired across four city areas, plus 20 lead workers and two coordinators. Roles include team leaders and assistants with pay ranging from 7.50 to 11.30 an hour. The effort aims to foster pride and work skills through supervised neighborhood cleanups with public works support.

Illinois Ranks High in Amtrak Subsidies
