A parenting column offers ideas from Mrs Hungerford to keep children engaged during travel. Use purses for sorting tasks, color hunts, sound games with containers, textures, and crayons. Pack snacks, water, and towels, enforce visible rules, rotate seating, stop every two hours, and plan low key bedtimes to prevent fatigue.
Private college Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey allows a family to attend undergraduate classes at any campus for the price of a single tuition. The plan, started in 1974 by President Jerome Pollack, applies to parents and children with 268 dual enrollments in 1974 75 rising to 396 in 1976 77. Grandparents have not enrolled. students may still obtain other aid.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission barred asbestos glow-in-embers in artificial logs as of December 15 1977 and prohibited plaster patching compounds for home use after June 12.
