New Haiti president urges unity after historic inauguration
Haiti inaugurated Michel Martelly as president in Port au Prince, a moment marked by a power outage and a pledge to rebuild the capital, boost education and security, raise taxes, and attract foreign investment. Martelly entered office amid earthquake devastation and widespread need, promising to unite a fractured nation and end the era of postquake despair.
