Jackson County liquor rule tightened over noise at Doc's Place

Make-A-Wish Gifts Carterville Boy A Custom Playground
Debbie McKinney and her son Tyler welcomed a dream gift from Make-A-Wish Foundation a custom cedar playground built by Belleville carpenters and volunteers. Eight men and as many as 30 workers assembled the unit featuring two clubhouses a tunnel slide a bridge swings and a regular slide. Tyler born premature with Down syndrome has endured heart issues and neonatal hospital care. Local sponsors Architechniques Clark Farms Marion Carpenters Local 638 and others donated time materials and transportation. Make-A-Wish volunteer Jeannette Zobrist praises the program.

In Jackson County Illinois a 34 year old Carbondale man Gregory L. Shumake was found innocent by reason of insanity for the October 2001 stabbing death of his father Fred Shumake.
