Gilbert Wayne Harris 31 of Johnston City died in a head on collision at 1 30 pm Saturday one mile west of Christopher on Route 14. Dwight Cook Mulkeytown survived with serious injuries and was taken to Veterans Hospital Marion after Miners Hospital Christopher treatment. Harris, divorces, was en route to Du Quoin to visit brother Cecil Harris. funeral Tuesday at First Methodist Church Johnston City. Burial Johnston City Cemetery. An inquest set for 5 pm Tuesday at Christopher City Hall.

Two Killed in Carlyle Highway Crashes Over Weekend
Illinois state police identified two dead and ten injured in two weekend highway crashes near Carlyle. Slidell Pryor 88 of St Elmo and Clarence McDaniel 20 of Shattuc died in separate accidents. Pryor and his grandson Claude Pryor were involved in a collision while attempting a left turn six miles north of Carlyle. McDaniel died in a collision east of Bartelso involving two cars and three motorcycles.
