Snowstorm Triggers Accidents and Outages Across Rockies
A spring storm dumped heavy wet snow on Wyoming and Colorado causing numerous accidents on slick roads and power outages affecting about 35,000 Colorado customers. Up to a foot fell in the Colorado Rockies with 2 to 7 inches elsewhere along the eastern Rockies including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins. A fatal three vehicle crash occurred in Rock Springs, and I-80 corridor incidents multiplied. Fort Collins and Vail Pass saw multi vehicle pileups, while I-25 near Fort Collins closed for five hours. University of Northern Colorado commencements were moved indoors after a tent collapsed under snow load.
