Columnist quits after London blasts story
New York columnist Michael Daly resigned from The Daily News after London editors accused his Belfast filed column of lies. Daly admitted using a pseudonym for a soldier but said the incidents described were essentially correct and resigned to avoid further embarrassment. The paper suspended publication pending inquiry and accepted his resignation.
