Joint Facility Plan Slowed By Lighting Cost Delays
A delay in cost estimates for lighting the Carruthers Junior High School diamond slows a joint use plan by Murphysboro Unit School District 186 and the Murphysboro Park Board. Lawyer Omer Jones says park officials seek lighting costs for softball or Little League baseball at the Unit 188 diamond and a May 23 school board meeting will hear a costs report and a resolution requesting use of Riverside Park field. Preliminary Little League rights cost about 5000 dollars, a figure the park district may not cover, with School Board President Bill Green noting Unit 186 could help fund Carruthers diamond improvements.
