Christ Community Church will break ground on an 800 seat worship center at 12 30 p.m. May 16 at the corner of Illinois 127 North and Harrison Road in Murphysboro. Members will read the Bible on the site starting Thursday and a prayer vigil will run until May 16 morning. A 10 30 a.m. worship service at the new location and lunch will follow the ceremony. Attendees should bring lawn chairs.

Apparition of the Virgin shrine draws Passaic visitors
In Passaic New Jersey a splintered tree stump under a Route 21 overpass has become La Aparicion the Apparition of the Virgin. Maintained by Dominican immigrant Enelisa Irizarry the shrine hosts candles flowers and prayers attracting about 500 visitors daily many Latinos with Easter crowds swelling hourly. The couple plans a small church on the site seeking $12 000 and state permission since the land belongs to the state Department of Transportation.
