Suit Filed for Kinkaid Land Condemnation in Murphysboro
A new circuit court case in Murphysboro targets about 100 acres in the Kinkaid Lake development west of the city. The Illinois Department of Public Works and Buildings sues seven defendants Arthur B Cremer Charles Cremer Anita White Melvin White Willa Mae Rhine Clark Rhine and Eleanor Williamson. The state says negotiated purchases failed and notes prior condemnation suits against 10 other properties.

Man hurt in car-truck crash near Marion
State police report two traffic incidents. In the first, Ralph T. Lee 30 Johnston City collided with Royal G. Berry 43 Marion on Rt 148 two miles south of Rt 13 west of Marion. Lee treated for minor injuries and Berry not hurt. In a second crash Harold L. Lence 41 Marion hit Dolphus W. Grimes 53 Rt 2 Marion on Rt 13 near I 57. Grimes minor injuries and Lence not hurt.

Planning group gets EDA grant for regional growth
Rep Kenneth J Gray announces a 33870 federal grant from the Economic Development Administration to the Southeastern Regional Planning and Development Commission. The funds plus 11450 local cash and in kind support will back one year of economic growth planning in Saline Hamilton Gallatin Pope and Hardin counties. This district is the second EDA funded in Southern Illinois.
