Budget Cut Threatens Carbondale Senior Citizens Program
Carol Johnson warns the Carbondale senior citizens program could lose nearly half its annual 200000 budget as the group fails to meet new HUD grant area requirements. The 29200 Community Development Block Grant for 1978-79 remains, while 7900 Title 3 and 7 funds face reductions, risking meals, health services, education and recreation programs for about 2700 members. Local fundraising and federal revenue sharing may offset losses, but cuts seem likely to affect operations, including rent at the East College Street center.
