Malpractice reforms rise as victims seek accountability

Victims of medical malpractice called Tuesday for tougher screening of doctors to curb rising insurance costs. Christopher Lay, whose 6-year-old son Brenden suffers cerebral palsy from a botched delivery, urged accountability while noting a prior $11.2 million award. He and others joined coalitions in a press conference, arguing caps on non economic damages fail to address core problems.
