Pinckneyville to host Illinois High School Hall of Fame museum site

The Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum will anchor on the former Pinckneyville Antique Mall and Kunz Opera House site after a four year goal. The Engelhardt and Pinckneyville Foundations funded the purchase following the June 17 fire that destroyed both buildings. Du Quoin firefighter Corey Shaw died from injuries in the blaze during reconstruction talks. The project aims to open within four years or repurpose the property to benefit the community, with a lease in place to the Illinois Rural Heritage Museum during fundraising.
