Former weapons inspector cites too few troops in Iraq
David Kay, ex CIA weapons inspector, told the Oklahoma Bankers Association in Tulsa that postwar Iraq is inadequately staffed with U.S. forces. He urged about 200,000 troops to maintain security, noting 138,000 currently in Iraq with 24,900 coalition troops. He warned of rising violence and outlined two options: cut and run or work to lower violence and transition power to Iraqis or the U.N. by June 20.
